Hit for six

Not sure how I’m even going to be able to write this latest instalment, I certainly couldn’t speak during some of the moments of the last few weeks.

Meeting Freddie Flintoff and Bumble within a matter of days certainly wasn’t something I was ever expecting. And yet it happened. Not only that, but the lovely Bumble took my Lancashire cricket team bat into the commentary box. So I watched, as a painting that I’d devoted so much time and energy on, was showcased live on Sky Sports. I don’t have words to describe how it felt. All I can say is that there was a lot of delirious laughter and time spent sitting on the floor in disbelief.

But while all the attention was on the Old Trafford bat, I was also lucky enough to sell my Sedbergh bat.

‘Evening play at Sedbergh’ is my latest painting on a cricket bat. It is inspired by an evening session of play on Day 2 of the County Championship game between Lancashire and Durham, at Sedbergh School, on Monday 1st July 2019.

The experiences of the last few weeks have certainly mirrored the unbelievable nature of the cricket over the summer of 2019.
